With the new 2021's on the way, I'm hoping GM will be offering the 2020's at a huge discount. My wife is a real estate agent and could use the Custom LS w/o the 3rd row seat so she can haul signs and things for staging houses etc, we don't want anything fancy.

  1. When do you think would be the best time to get a great discount, yet still have a decent selection to choose from?
  2. When is the cutoff for ordering a 2020 Tahoe if we decide to go that route?

you can check online for weekly updates on ordering options
other than that I would say the "deals" start happening towards the end of the year around oct and later, I wouldn't call them Huge discounts but you can generally get $10k off or maybe a little more, sometimes the sweetest deal is a factory certified pre-owned you usually get a better warranty than new for something that is barely used.

Thanks, I read that since they will be made at the same plant at some point they’ll stop producing the 2020 and move to the 2021. I haven’t found any dates yet although they say the 2021 will be available “mid year”

I did something similar with my 2019 Suburban. Back when I special ordered it the rumor was 2020 was going to be the redesign. By using the Donlen Fleet guide(link below) you can find the initial order and production startup dates. I ordered mine on 10/23/18 and it was built on 12/18/18. Timing was great in December, I received year end employee pricing deal. Donlen says 2021 startup is in Q2 2020. If you check the site weekly they will lock the date down to the day soon. Production is usually shut down for a few weeks on the model cut over so the factory can retool for the new model.

Thanks for the link, looking at that chart the cutoff for ordering a 2020 Tahoe was 12/2019, maybe the 2021’s will hit the lots sooner than I expected.

Here’s a video showing the 2021 suburban already on the assembly line

I would start looking now and find the exact one you want and make a deal with them at the end of the month. If you wait too long you might save a few bucks, but have to settle for one that might not check all the boxes.

I have purchased all of my Suburbans during the months of March, April or May and have gotten extremely good discounts each time. The important thing to do is look at the incentives that GM is offering between now and Memorial Day as it will vary by month (My 2016 had great incentives in March that evaporated until the end of the model year in my part of the country). You should then look at cars.com or a similar web site for vehicles that are for sale in your general market and see what the lowest price is. If you are ready to buy and the prices are in your budget -- I would go for it. One important thing to remember is that while you might see a much better deal in a market hundreds of miles away, the automakers apply their incentives to your home zip code, not the zip code of the dealer you are buying from.

Good luck and happy hunting!!

Thanks guys, the $3k off ends 03/02 so I’m hoping it’ll increase. We are looking to buy before June.

GM trucks deals seem to center around 2 periods of time June and December. Find a dealership that uses the Price Watch system pick out a few in stock vehicles and wait for that killer deal to come by email and pounce on it. I have found this to be a very effective strategy. Works good if you do not have to have a vehicle right away. Haste makes Waste LOL

I have found the last day of each quarter to be really good. Find your truck before hand and start haggling. They will want to sell before the end of the quarter.
