Best way to fix my subs?

I have a set of Blaupunkt VW1200 subs. These things are monsters and have served me well for 7 years now. At 1200 watts RMS each, they have taken some abuse (as well as my ears). Recently the heat sinks detached from them. It's an easy fix, but curious what everyone thinks the best adhesive to use would be?

Is it metal to metal? Some badass stuff that will never fail would be some 3M panel bond. We use it to glue quarter panels on vehicles, but it serves many good purposes. That thing would never fall off again.

If it really is a heat sink then you need to use a thermal adhesive.

Where the cage around the magnet is, you can see where they come together half way down the sides. That's the piece that detached. It is metal to metal I believe.

Is it even needed? it looks like its just a decorative cover.

Oh it sounds terrible without it. Subs keep cutting out. I've fixed this once but clearly what I used wasn't enough.

Well when in doubt, JB weld that sucker. Im just curious as to what it is, do you have a pic with it removed?

I'll check when I get home. I might, but if I don't I'll make sure to take some when I tear my box open again.

send it in to manufacture for fix. dont ruine some nice subs with hack job

Bought these on clearance back in '07. Even if they would fix them, it would probably cost more in shipping than I paid for them! These bad boys weigh in at 22lbs each. I've already attempted this once, and didn't ruin them. It's a matter of what to use on aluminum for adhesive. I've got my moneys worth out of them for sure. Might be a good excuse to finally get a solo baric.
