I have an 03 Denali with the non touchscreen nav and I and planning on upgrading my system. My problem is I have two little ones and I do not want to lose the functionality of my rear seat entertainment.
My question is what is the simplest way to accomplish this?
I have been looking at the GMOS-100 and there seems to be a general consensus that it works as advertised but at $200 it is an expensive option. I have also toyed with the idea of just throwing a line level converter and suing it to get my signal. (any opinions of what is the nest line level converter?)

Does anybody have any other ideas of how to accomplish this? Can you hard wire in an aftermarket radio and not lose the rear seat entertainment?

I will be hooking up whatever route I go as I have had a stereo upgrade in every vehicle but this one.

Ya gotta pay to play.

The systems in these trucks is known as a databus system. Just about everything is digital. There are ways around the digital turn on but you will lose the retained power (radio stays on until door opens).

Long story short, go on Ebay or Amazon and get the correct parts and do it right the first time. It's just the way these trucks are.

I don't have a problem with paying for the proper adapter I am just hesitant because I have read some people have had issues with the GMOS.

You could do it like i plan to do, replace the dinky factory monitor with a monitor that will actually be visible to the rear seat passengers. buy some IR headphones, done.

Look at an audiocontrol LC8i, it takes your speaker outs and converts them to RC outs and you can attach an amp to it. I did that with my Yukon and kept the factory radio and allowed me to attach amps without losing any functionality. It costs about 150 bucks on Ebay and then the cost for amps.
