when i bought the truck, i had normal tires, got about 18-20 mpg and could push it and go 460miles per tank.....about 6 months ago i put BFG allterains on her..i think they are 285s, cant remember, anyway i know with bigger tires its gunna throw the MPH and ur trip odometer but should it be this much off? now when i fill up and then run the tank out...my trip odometer reads that ive been barley over 315miles when on Empty....are theses tires sucking my gas like crazy? is my odemeter really that off? or is it a combination of the two...what do i do so that i can really see my true MPG and how many miles i went on a tank?

Yeah I noticed a big difference like that going from 245s to 285 MTRs. I was getting around 16MPG...I'm lucky if I get 11 now.

Get your GPS...mine has my MPG thats how I recalibrate my MPH. Yeah big tires do kill MPG.

but then again you own a OBS so MPG shouldnt matter!

Dang you got 460 miles per tank the only way that mine will ever see that is if i dont reset it after i fill up.

Depending on what size tire you had from there to start with it could he 3-5 mph off

I have 285 BFG All Terrains and probably get around 11-12 in the city. Like everyone said, bigger more aggressive tires will kill fuel milage. Perhaps you have something wrong mechanically...such as o2 sensors which are known to murder fuel mileage. Just a thought.

big tires hurt. Plain and simple. Tread pattern plays into this but it is very small amount, most likely would go un-noticed.
