So, I bought my 09 PPV last summer and was averaging 400 miles per tank. A few months ago I put new tires on it (same size, same air pressure, different brand) and I dropped to 350 miles per tank. It has been very consistant both before and after the tires. Then a few weeks ago I installed a K&N to hopefully pick a few miles back up and its even worse!!! Now I'm getting about 315 miles per tank. Same driving conditions to and from work, no special trips or rompings. I even went with a synthetic blend on the last oil change. I have about 80,000 miles on it. Any ideas????

Have you cleaned the throttle body or MAS (Mass Air Sensor) before?? I'd start there.

No. I will soon just to mark it off the list. The tires have puzzled me more than anything. It was a noticable drop the first day after driving it.

Tires can vary substantially in weight, even between tires of the same size and manufacturer that have different load ratings (ie, p-metric vs D or E load rating...more plies = heavier).

What tires did you have on it before and what did you have put on?

use of ac is also a big factor. Stop and go traffic. Tires may be the same but could have some wieght as to your old tires with less tread on it or rolling resistance

If I remember right the stock 20" wheels weigh ~40lbs with tires I took off at 35k miles (2/3 tread worn off). When I went with new 24" Ziniks and Cooper Zeon AT 305s they weighed ~90lbs each!

It had the Good-Year Eagles on it when I bought it but I put the Nexen Roadian HP's on it because they were half the price. The way it seems, If I had stuck with Good-Year I would eventually save $$ through gas.
