I was washing the burb today and noticed the finish on my bowtie on the front bubbling up similar to when a body panel rusts from behind the paint. So either my billet bowtie is a POS and just "billet plated" or billet can rust. Has anyone had this happen before?

I have seen this before on a old billet grille. Aluminum itself does not.

 At least it wasn't an expensive item. I'm tossing around getting a stock bowtie and having it color matched (leaving the "chrome" surround) and also doing away with the billet inserts. It's probably time to switch it up anyway. I was just surprised to see this when washing her up today :(
