I'd have to check dyno sheets for exact numbers- but rule of thumb, is 15-20% drivetrain loss.

5.3s make negative horsepower ... that's why they're faster in reverse.

Makes sense I you don't really think about it ...

Jennas right on the money 10-20% loss for drivetrain my 06 gto with motor rebuild made about 605 flywheel hp the dyno was 475rwhp after complete tune on a very humid day and yes the IAT intake temp matters the colder the input air the more hp the car makes

Really crappy when you think about it cause the don't advertise it that way

The same goes with gas mileage from my understanding they are rated on the engine dyno for fuel consumption when in reality they get less in the vehicle someone correct me if im wrong on this :)

I have an 08 and sooner or later id like to tune it...what would be the best bolt on mods that will yield pretty good results once the tune is loaded? exhaust and intake seem to be the most talked about...

I would also like to know, I have the gm performance intake and have been kicking around the corsa touring kit if it would help. I don't think I want it much louder though. As its already got a decent rumble. On a side note if I ever win the lotto do you have any tunes for superchargers or turbo's. Sorry if this has been addressed already as I'm new here.

The transmission is also programmed by the same equipment. The newer transmissions do not yet have the programming capability that the old ones do.

What I recommend is to do their mods in stages, with the first one being tune, intake and exhaust.

Being that we sell superchargers as well as have them on our personal vehicles, we are quite well versed on F/I. Not to mention the fact that we have tuned hundreds of F/I vehicles, as well as having them on our dynos, and using them to teach the EFILive courses.

As for the 07+ vehicles, GM has broken out the PCM into two parts, the ECM (engine control module) and the TCM (transmission control module).

The 2010+ ECM and TCMs are very difficult to come by, not to mention the fact that most of those folks are still under warranty. For that situation, we recommend the AutoCal, so the customer can return the vehicle to stock for dealer visits.

On the 6spd transmissions, the TCM is internal hence not able to be swapped out. Tuning can only be accomplished inperson or via the AutoCal. The TCM however, is still fully tunable.
