Hey guys. New to the forum. Got an '08 Yukon SLT in September of last year. It's black and has the chrome package on it currently. I plan on taking all the badges off except for the front GMC logo which will be replaced by an actual metal chrome badge. I'm also going to replace the grille with a horizontal billet style and have it painted to match the body. Basically i'm going all back except or the door handles and side mirror covers which will remain chrome. Only because the wheels I want are chrome and black so a little accent will be nice.

On the point of this thread. I live in central Texas and went by a local custom shop inquiring about headlight. I want black housing projectors. I"ve read the sticky and unfortunately have experience with ebay lights and I know they're horrible. Also I inquired about HIDs and was referred to LEDs instead. I know they burn much cooler and they're also very bright. My current headlight are oxidized and my hi-beams are crap because of it. Some of the roads I drive on have no lighting and lots of turns. Doesn't equal a good mix when you're driving late at night. I've seen what BFC customs has done with the retrofit but I just don't think I like the style of the stock headlight enough to be okay with a retrofit. I definitely do want projectors though.

My question is can anybody point me in the direction of another vendor or vendors that make a solution for my problem. I know headlight are expensive but it's worth it to spend the money and net get crap. TIA guys.

He can get black housing headlights like the post above from eBay and will be like OEM, but black. Or you can do a projector retrofit and have the housing painted black while they are putting in the projector. We have a vendor here BlackFlameCustoms who can do it and has done it for a few people on here...

I think i'd like to go the projector retrofit route. I just got back from the shop and I looked at the other lights again and the BFC light look way better. I just want to know if he can do it with LEDs instead of HIDs

HID light is better than LED light. Check out threads on HIDPlanet.com and they will explain a lot. As the sticky mentions, you can't put a LED bulb in an HID projector and it work properly either (just like putting HID in a halogen housing). You'd have to an LED projector like the Escalades or new Acuras. The problem with that is you would need more than 1 projector because of the low level of light compared to a HID. The only thing close to a single projector for LEDs would be the 4" housings that some Jeeps and Motorcycles are doing. Problem with that is just that projector is $1,000 not including anything else you would need.

I haven't been on hidplanet lately so I don't know what the latest projector tech is. There might actually be OEM LED projectors available for retrofits, but I just don't know. It might be worth asking BFC if thy are aware of any. If such a thing exists it'll probably be more expensive than HID projectors and won't be as bright, but they will be pure white and have the beam pattern of halogen bulbs, which is actually preferable because the cutoff isn't as severe. It's worth inquiring about.

I think I'm going to do this project at home. I can get the parts for less than 400. Maybe a day or two in the garage and I can be back on the road. It's so hard for me to pay to 1K for retrofits...
