blacking out tail light question

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this question but i want to black out my rear tail lights but ive been told at least here in California that if you do and get rear ended it would be 50/50 is there any truth behind that

You know IMHO, one coat of tint spray looks better than none.

Do 1-3 LIGHT coats and you will not have a problem!
