Blacking out trim and emblems ‘18 Denali

I recently bought an ‘18 Yukon Denali w/ Ultimate. It’s white frost tricoat.

I’m interested in “blacking”out all of the chrome trim — fog log surrounds, window trim, grill trim, and the rear Chrome ‘hump’ on the tailgate. How is that hump removed, anyway? A quick look over and it appears to be more difficult to remove than I thought.

Also, the front and rear GMC emblems. Are you guys just buying new black ones and replacing?

I appreciate any insight. And photos would be great!

Plastidip seems like a popular choice for emblems since you can do it without removing them.

I am almost done "blacking" out my 2011 Denali, wheels are the last thing, and I used vehicle wrap (carbon fiber look) to cover all the chrome. I ordered new badges from Amazon to update most of them, waiting on the back gate one still. My headlight were becoming worn out ,so I replaced them along with the grill.

That's ALOT of chrome that you want to cover up. If I were you, i'd start with the window trim first. In my opinion Gloss Black Vinyl Wrap looks best for that. For both sides it'll run about $200-$400. Being, that your truck is white, it may look a little weird blacking out the chrome strip along the doors. I personally think it would look good if you can color match it as best as you can with a vinyl wrap. When it comes to your Grille, Tailgate, Emblems, & Fog lights, it'll be best to plasti-dip that and then add some plasti-dip glossifier to give it that reflective look instead of the flat black matte finish. This is exactly how I would do it if I had your truck. My 16 Tahoe didn't have as much Chrome as the Yukons do, but I was able to Vinly wrap pretty much everything. Hope this helps!

I've looked into a number of options, keeping in mind which would be more/less expensive, and which would require more/less time- I'm still debating a number of options, but the Plati-dip idea is one that I'm leaning towards. It can be removed, but will require re-spray, or updating at some point, it's not a "permanent" solution. Having said that, I decided to experiment with some adhesive vinyl sheeting, that had a carbon fiber look. I found a role of 25' by 3' on Amazon for around 10 bucks. I used that to black out my front/rear logo. I placed squares of the vinyl sheet onto the area, used a chopstick to work the vinyl into the corners and cracks, and then used an X-acto knife to trim. I did it about 2 years ago and it's held up beautifully, but it will require me to do it again at some point. Nothing holds up to the Southern California Sun for long. It gave it a cool carbon fiber look. At some point, I'd like to cover my foglight bezels, but I'll get to it when I have the time. Hope this helps.
