projectors are not a must have.. they definitely help a LOT in light dispersion and cut off but putting them in the stock housing is okay as long as you aim them
I have 12k HID's in my fogs and lows and have never once been flashed for them blinding someone

Try getting someone to drive by you at night with your truck while your in another car going the opposite direction. Its very annoying HIDs with stock lenses.

That's probably because 12k HID's offer less light than a decent halogen bulb. That said, yes aiming them correctly will certainly help.

I'm not going to get in this argument because this could all be avoided by saying I am young therefore not as sensitive to light
but I have done it and while it was brighter than most headlights on the road it did not BLIND me
I was not having to shield my eyes
hell some BMW's with projectors are more annoying because every bump they hit you see them flicker in your side mirrors or if they are coming at you

the 12k's I have are still bright as hell
I would even like to argue brighter than a "decent halogen"

thats the only time I thought I was getting flashed and even then I was thinking your shit is just as blinding

motorcycles are the same way!!! haha but anyways if you want projectors I suggest looking at FutureVisionHID.com

Steve Meade got a set of projectors there and he barely had to do any trimming to make them fit in his diamond clear housings which are basically the same as stock

here's the video

I'm not trying to argue either... however many professionals with the ability and tools to measure lumen output would disagree with you. You can just say you wanted blueish purple headlights. :)

Stay away from kits over 6000k, you will only LOOSE available light that shines on the road and attract cops!

Actually 5000k provides the most white light and best illumination.

6000k is slightly blue (bmw look) and as the number goes up the color then the light provided has a purple tint. That's like saying hey cops pull me over and give me a ticket. Anything over 6k is illegal for highway use and like dark window tint its a good way to attract attention of law enforcement.

Not trying to judge, just provide the facts for what its worth!

Actually ANY HIDs that are not OEM equipment are illegal for highway/road use. Its a fact, if you look they will all say "for offroad use only". And any color over 6000k is just basically grabbing a cop's attention, like you said. Even though they are technically illegal, we all have them due to the better light output. I have them in my fogs and lows. But I'm not gonna go crazy with some blue as hell bulbs attracting attention from cops. I put 8000k's in my lows and I realized I hated them, they were entirely too blue for me but I loved increased light output. I eventually replaced them with 6000k bulbs when I added my foglights. I bought my kits from HIDGATE on Ebay, they have them for $39.99 shipped. They also sell under the name "KICKXTC" and "LIGHTING623".

EDIT: I see they now have their HID kits for $37.50 shipped!
