Hi guys, I have a 1994 Yukon and I have rot spots between doors and wheel wells. Any ideas? I've tried looking for patch panels and skins with no luck. I'm thinking I have to make my own panels.

Gettting rid of rust is like getting rid of aids.. it wont happen lol..

when ever you weld a patch or sheetmetal onto your car/truck you burn the paint off the backside leaving bare metal which eventually will rust again.. its a never ending cycle..

This is true but you can really slow it down which is why I was asking for pics. Cut out the rust and then shoot the area with a rust reformer of some kind. Then there is body panel adhesive that works pretty well for areas that see a lot off flexing and you avoid welding which can create rust areas like Adam pointed out.

Don't be discouraged by the peanut gallery. No vehicle is or will ever be completely rust free. Rust is manageable, just take a wire brush to the area, or cut it out like cancer and weld in a new piece. Rust is rust dude, its par for the course . . .

No offense but my experience is quite the contrary. My bodyman cut out all my rust, welded in patches, primer, poly fill, paint etc. My truck came out as new, probably better. Go to Copobrothers.com to see the pics on the projects page. It's not rocket science. Two years in btw, and if it rusts, we can do it again!

Rust is Rust. It's going to happen. Mine has very little for being a Wisconsin truck most of it's life. I'll be touching mine up this year hopefully

And I agree is atomic. When you weld in a new panel, it will rust again at some point.

Like I said, who cares if it rusts again?, It was rusted before. If done right, you can get years out of it. When it finally rusts just fix it again. How else would you fix a rust issue? Please enlighten me.

I would care. I'd be pissed if I spend a good amount of money on body work and a few years later it looked like crap again.
