Well I thought I read that he wasnt going to use the factory bose amp correct? But that he liked the way the factory speakers sounded. SO he would have to worry bout high level/low level inputs then. Since he wants more control, that the aftermarket head unit provides. By all means @redrocket have at it. Ill make sure not to post again.
Sorry dude didn't mean to be so ******* you. But you can't just solder RCA jacks onto speaker wire and call it good. It won't work at the best and at the worst it will fry components. RCA level is in millivolts and speaker level is in volts.

To clarify, my goal is to get rid of everything Bose related and start new. However, if it's a huge pain in the ass then I'll do what @redrocket did and run the hybrid system he did.

Just make sure to use quality rca cables if you want crystal clear audio and also make sure you disconnect the battery so their is no power to the hu and the amp when plugging the rca's in

My best advice to you is run all new wiring and avoid lots of frustration trying to bypass the bose. I installed all new door speakers and a new hu yesterday...it took me twice as long to install it, after i repaired the hacked up harness, i was getting no sound through the new speakers. What i did was use the orange(constant 12v power) green(switched 12v power) black (ground) to power up the new hu and ran all new speaker wire from the doors back to the hu until i hook up the amps

I taped up and tucked the rest of the wires on the wire harness as far back as i could bury them.
On another note, all the youtube videos i've watched all said to basically destroy all the plastic and remove the metal brace AND to order a new dash bezel...i was able to fit the double din hu with no problem

@Cattivo did you have the LUX Bose or standard? The LUX is a great amp for the door speakers and it's simple to use it for that along with new speakers. Then you just need a new sub and mono amp running off the sub out of the new HU. No need to run all those speaker wires which is a hassle. As far as the DD you don't need a new dash bezel unless your dash is a single din. As far as the brace, I had to remove mine but if the HU fits without it, that's a bonus.

I had the standard gm radio in which i took great pleasure smashing it into the dumpster lol...i really should of taken pics of the abortion the po (butcher) performed hacking the shit out of the wire harness. I basically had no other option but to run all new speaker wire back to the hu which was pretty easy to do since i left myself a piece of drag string to get back through the door grommet

The Kenwood dd hu i installed fit very snug which meant i didn't need to remove that brace...next chance i get i'll shave the perimeter of the dash bezel with my dremel

First off good job on the install! my end goal is to have a double din and a digital sound processor. The double din I want is ridiculously expensive and since I'm not willing to compromise on a lesser hu, I'll settle with the budget route I'm going now. Plus my alpine has enough tuning adjustments to satisfy the lack of sound processor.

Did your truck come with either Bose system? Do you have a picture of your hu in the daytime to see the bezel?

I won't be reusing any factory wiring except to power the hu or what I have to. I'll be running 12-gauge to the speakers, 0 gauge power and ground to both amps or I'll have some distribution block setup.

My install is going to take some time and I planned on that since maintenance comes first and I need some front end work. I still need the speakers, sub, thunderform, maybe a new mono and other odds and ends. I'll be looking for deals when I can.

As far as the bezel, I'm not sure if you know it or not but since you have an 02 Denali your dash bezel is different than any of the others. Yukons and Tahoes have flat areas around where the HU is and no wood grain around the edges. The Denalis have a rounded area around the HU that doesn't allow us to make the opening bigger without looking like shit. The only option we have is to get a Denali DD dash bezel out of an 03-up. They're getting hard to come by, so you'll want to start looking on Ebay right away. I originally settled for one with a crack in it for a few months until a better one became available. Good luck.
