Bose Front AND Rear Subwoofer??

The 2002 and down Yukon XL's came with a subwoofer in the panel on the left side of the trunk.
The 2003+ comes with the Bose sub under the console. Has anyone added the old trunk sub in addition to the console sub?
I thought it would be cool to have both, and add the extra umph in the suburban.

I'm trying to do that now but with my denali short wheel base. Everything is aftermarket though. Already upgraded the center console, now still trying to figure out the back panel sub situation. Spend a little more and find/get the thunderform 10" in the back and put a sundown sd3 in there, or attempt to make a fiberglass box and put a 10 in it. I just dont want anything showing at all. With the stock box that was back there with an 8, I think I can do better then that using up that space.
So hey I say do it. Get the box, put a little 8 in there and give it the appropriate micro amp so it's out the way.

So the easiest way to have the rear sub in addition to the console sub is to get a micro amp to run the 8” subwoofer, and run that off the input for the console sub?

If you are talking that you are just going to use the two spaces to run two stealth subs yeah, go ahead...


If you are talking adding a 2nd bose sub to the other location... DON'T. What a giant waste that would be. Any decent sub in either of those locations should do better than 2 bose subs. If you are going to run an extra amp, wire, enclosure, sub, just get a pair and run the two off one amp you can mount (probably under the second row).


If you run another amp off that factory wiring, you are now pushing the additional power through that original wire. This sounds like you are trying to add a second sub because you think you can do it on the cheap, but this is a bad idea. Its not practical, it won't be effective, and it could be dangerous.

You could go the route I did OB. Stock Bose sub up front and a custom enclosure in the rear for a 12" yes it does show but only takes up about an inch of cargo space because of the grill.

That's a nice rear sub installation. Just a note on subs. Subs in multi locations tend to cancel each other out. Something about the low frequencies. Depending on the separation some frequencies will be out of phase giving you decreased output. And some frequencies will be in phase giving you increased output. This can cause uneven output meaning sometimes you get dead/dull bass, then you get over powering bass, in the same song. For that reason I prefer a single 12" sub in a stealthy location.

Sub sounds are "omni-directional" ( fills the room)..... a second sub on a separate channel is a "nothing" for a vehicle.

Improve your OEM located sub speaker, but that's it.
