I have a few questions regarding my stock audio system.
This is for an 03 LT Tahoe with the Bose audio system and Onstar.
My plans are to add in a second head unit, a subwoofer, and upgrade the stock Bose speakers to something of my liking.
I want to retain the factory head unit and plan on using it as a second source (radio would be the primary use) and integrate it with kenwoods carportal v1000 model integration unit.
I want to amplify the speakers I will be replacing but, at the moment I cannot afford to so, amplifying the Bose speakers is the next best thing. I cant seem to find specs on the impedance level of the Bose system and require the RMS rating as well.
So far Ive added:
The second head unit (Kenwood KVT 614 Excelon)
JL Audio 13W7 woofer
JL Audio 1000v2 slash amplifier
Infinity Kappa 4Channal amplifier (1200 watts)
Big 3 (0Ga)
Second battery (located inside engine bay. Wired and fused with 0Ga.)
Ive also ran the 4ga wire to both amplifiers. Fused and waiting to run RCA's, grounds, and Signal cable.
My questions are:
What are the specs (RMS and impedance) of the stock Bose system?
Is it even possible to Amplify the Bose system? The specs for the Infinity amp are:
125w x4 channel at 4 ohms or,
150w x4 channel at 2 ohms
Where should I run my grounds for my amps? They are mounted under my 2nd row bench. Ive heard that using the stock seat bolt is a bad idea. I dont really want to drill any new holes if I dont have to but, I can if convinced.
Also, which fuse in the fuse panel under the hood is a switched source? Ive tapped into a fuse using the add-a-fuse for my kenwood and it dosent turn on when the truck turns on. It has power but, I just have to turn it on manually.
Things still yet to do:
-Run RCA's and Signal cable
-Attain Kenwood Carportal device
-Attain new speakers. I was thinking about RE Audio's 6.5 Component *** series. They are 2 ohm rated and work perfectly with my Infinity Amp. I will just make adapters for the doors.
Future plans...yada yada yada
Thanks!
