How often is everyone changing the fuel filter on their 3.0 Duramax. My screen says I have 23% left but thinking about doing it early as it doesn't look difficult.

Looks like I am behind. Will do it this weekend. Any diy tips?

Follow this procedure.

The only thing I do that he doesn't, is when you take out the plug for the water drain - leave it out. Then as you're removing the filter housing, the fuel will start draining out the hole for the water drain once the housing is loose enough. This keeps the amount of diesel draining down the sides of the housing to a minimum.

I change mine about every third oil change.. It's not hard to do but every time I've done it so far, the filter doesn't look dirty that's for sure.. Probably could go much longer.

I do mine at about 50% of life per the dash. That is usually 20K miles for me.
Mine was showing 17% when I got it at 26k. I went ahead and changed it. Will prob do it when counter says 25%. Which im guessing will be 20k miles.
Agree it is easy enough for piece of mind
