I have a 2000 Denali with the Bose system, i also have 2 12s hooked up. I've been having this issue where if i play a song off a cd that sometimes in the middle of the song the head unit just switches back to the radio. Only happens when the volume is really high, i don't have a volume display on the unit because its stock :/ what is the issue and is there a fix?

thanks

disconnect the amp and try it again and see if it does it. it may be the radio and have nothing to do with the amp and subs

eliminate variables, discconect your amp and any aftermarcket electronics you have hooked up and if the problem goes away its something in your system thats causing that or it could just be the stereo

Alright guys, today i disconnected my amp and subs, was able to play a full cd at full volume with no switching over issues and the bass knob was like it usually is when connected with my subs. Could it be a poor ground? or what could it be?

thanks

I usually get a lot of flack for this on other sites, but yes, you have a poor ground. A proper ground that will never ever fail is to sand some paint down to bare metal in about a 1" area as close to your amp as possible. I normally find a place by the door jamb where you can access both points;on top of the floor and underneath the floor.

use a ring terminal for that 4 ga wire (one should have came with your wire kit)

find a bolt, lock washer and nut that just fit the ring on the terminal.

crimp the terminal to the wire and take a torch and heat up the terminal and solder the terminal to the wire.

drill a hole just big enough for your bolt to fit through in the middle of the spot you sanded to bare metal.

install the lock washer and nut on the underside of the body and tighten as tight as you can.

What is happening with your install is the amp is not grounding at the body where it should so it is using your RCAs for ground. Im kinda surprised you haven't fried your radio or amp or both yet.

Alright when you say by the door jamb do you mean somewhere between the door and where it latches like in the picture? Thats the only place where its the body and where i can sand off paint, but would the door be able to shut properly once installed there?

thanks

No, on the floor, under the carpet. I should have said sill plate next to or around the seat. For instance, I grounded both of my amps under the carpet between the seat and door sill. It was easy to tighten the nut to the bolt from underneath the truck. I think I used a terminal I found at lowes on this one.

Something like this:
