Hey guys, I just got my 20" Boss 330s mounted and balanced on my truck with the old tires and at 70+ mph I get a slight shimmy in the wheel which I did not have before. They place that mounted and balanced said they had a hard time balancing them perfectly because they can't put a weight on the outside lip. I brought it back to him and he tried again to balance it. Has anyone else had these issues with Boss wheels or any wheel for that matter that they can't mount weights on the outside? Is this guy full of shit? Should I just take it someplace else?

They should be using stick on weights that adhere to the back lip of the rim. I'd find a shop who knows how to work with aftermarket rims.

They did use those weights plus they put weights on inside of the wheel. He just said that because he can't put them on the front it won't balance. That made no sense to me. I was like so everyone with aftermarket rims has balance issues?

Whoever is balancing it is crazy, nobody puts stick on weights on the outside of a wheel. Find a drifferent shop and ensure what size the hub bore is, should be 78.1 or you need rings.

The hub centric rings will not effect the balancing because the bore of the balancing machine is different. But it sounds to me like that is a ****** shop. Go to 4 Wheel Parts if you can, they will RoadForce balance them for cheap.

But i don't really know if they are not balanced right or the shimmy is just from the lack of the hub centric rings. We don't have a 4 wheel parts up here, I live in Albany NY, we have nothing...

I got 20 inch boss 330s and there balanced perfect. The shop used sticky weights on the inside of the rim. I agree with the others find another shop who knows how to balance them. I dont have shims or rings either.

Thats the thing, the guy did use sticky weights on the inside of the rim and weights on the back lip. his excuse was that he could not put weights on the front lip and that is why it won't balance correctly. I am going to try the rings first to see if that works, I mean they are only 15 bucks. If not I will take it to another place.
