I know, I know... it's a small mod but it's one that I"ve been wanting to do for quite some time now. I researched the forum and found a lot of very helpful threads on the subject, also realized that there were two popular ways to perform this mod.... vinyl wrap or paint. I decided to paint them since I wanted to match the color of my truck as best as possible (Graystone Metallic). Took me a Saturday afternoon to paint the front and rear. The painting was the easy part, I found that masking the bowties off and waiting for the coats of primer, base color & clear coat to dry took waaaay long. Killed plenty of beers in the process. Big thanks to Brooklyn hoe for taking the time to patiently explain the process to me. Here are a few pix!

BTW, I'm in the process of performing a Blackbear Autocal Tune on my truck, will post on that soon.

That looks fantastic. I just used 3-4 coats of dulplicolor 'Untra Silver' on my bow ties. Did the clear coat give it more of a OEM finish? Mine looks good, but lacks that sheen I was hoping for, perhaps because I didnt apply a 'clear'

Thanks guys, I'm really happy with how it turned out.

I though that finishing with a clear coat would give the bowties a shiny finish like the factory paint, but it didn't. I'm thinking maybe a little wetsanding would help but now I'm liking the semi-gloss finish they have. Originally they were completely dull but to bring out more shine, I polished them and followed that with a wax. Definitely helped.

nice work, I too have found the clear coating really tough to get to match factory. Wet sanding and polishing compound are supposed to do the trick but I guess I was never patient enough.

I think paint matched bows on that color look best.
