1st post and I did search! I'm new to Tahoe's and need some help.

Picked up a 99 LS this morning. Didn't notice at first but the brake lights dont work. First, I changed all (top two) bulbs except the reverse ones. The right taillight light looked new, at least the "board" that holds the bulbs did. The left side not so much. It had a lot of crap in the connections on the board. So I replaced it. Brake lights still do not work. Everything else is fine ( hazzards, turn signals,etc...)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

How about your brake switch? A non-functioning cruise control and torque converter clutch work would confirm it.:welcome:

Is that the switch above the brake pedal that looks extremly hard to get too?

Also, what is the minimum MPH that the cruise control will come on normally?

So no cruise control, I can start with replacing the brake switch?

Thanks for your assistance. It sucks not really being able to drive her today due to the brake lights...

yes. min cruise I think is 40mph.

instructions here.

Read post #11 here for instructions:

For the SIR:
with key out of ignition lock pull your airbag fuse. #8 I think. Then disconnect the only the yellow colored connectors under neath the dash. At least one but maybe two if your have passenger air bag. Proceed with repair. Reverse the procedure to re-enable SIR system.

Don't want you to get hit by a false airbag deployment.

Try checking the #1 fuse in your fuse block (left side of dash). If it's blown, you get that condition.

Ask me how I know that :laughing1:

I checked them all once but I'll check that one again. I just bought the switch. I wanted the AC Delco but they were out, so I went with the BWD one. It has a life time warranty.

Having trouble getting the ring off. I got a set of snap ring pliers. Im just not sure how this thing separates. I can barely see it as is...
