Yesterday my 2013 Tahoe started needing the ignition on in order for the brake lights to come on. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have an idea of what's wrong?

Thanks for the reply.

Really? Every vehicle I've ever owned (and currently own) all enable the brake lights to work when the ignition is not on. I thought that is a standard safety issue..... I guess I'm a bit behind the times.

Any others the same?

it's controlled by the BCM along with the signals and brake lamps(including the hazard switch)

It also would keep you from coming out to a dead battery if your brake switch were stuck in the ON position.

Mine does that also. Found out when I changed out my taillights and had my daughter go press the brake pedal so I could see if they worked/how they looked. They wouldn't come on unless I put the key in and turned it to key on/engine off
