Need ideas here folks:

I've got some aftermarket LED tail-lights that require resistors. After about a year and a half of working, I noticed that cruise control was starting to only work when it felt like it... but then not at all. I then recently realized that I also now have no brake lights. Was thinking it might have something to do with the resistors, so took off the old resistors and everything worked fine then (but still no cruise since the computer thinks a bulb is burned out). I thought maybe a resistor had gone bad, so I ordered some new ones and got them installed tonight, but still no brake lights and no cruise. I've checked all the associated fuses and nothing appears to be wrong there.

At this point I'm wondering if something may have gone wrong with an LED board or maybe the brake switch at the pedal. Am giving thought to disconnecting the new resistors to see if the brakes work again, but that still won't fix the cruise control.

Thankfully it's not a daily driver so I don't have to worry about getting hit from behind because of the non-brakes!... I've got time to try to get the problem diagnosed and fixed.

BTW - couldn't tell you what kind of LED tails I have. Picked them up off Ebay and don't recall the company I got them from.

I agree. If you have the stockers-put em' in and see if all the lights function properly. Typically if a load resistor goes bad-it will still pass current. My work truck has load resistors for my turn lamps-I know when they go bad because I get a hyper-flash. Also, LR's are usually only needed for turn signal applications.....

I had to put the LR's in because my cruise quit working when I put the LED lights in and it started working again when I hooked up my original LR's for the brake light. Never have had any kind of hyper-flashing with the turn-signals, just the no-cruise problem.

I did find the lights/company I bought from:

http://www.k2motor.com/00-01-02-03-04-05-06-tahoe-denali-led-tail-lights-red-tm.html

The lights that came with it were not stockers, but they were not LED either. They utilized the original sockets/bulbs though. Will try that route and see what happens.

Think I might pick up a brake switch while I'm out today and change that too, since it doesn't appear to be an expensive part.

Past that, I'm still wondering if something may have went bad with the LED lights to where the brake portion is not flashing on.
