brake lights wont go out 04 tahoe 5.3 4x4 help please

I noticed it when i locked my doors with my key remote my brakes lights were on third light too so tried pushing brake pedal nothing still so popped the hood and disconected the battery for a min or two plugged it back up and they were off so i said ok there off went in my buddies house came back out to go home and they were still off started it up and went home got home turned it off got out they were on again all three so unplugged the battery plugged it back up they were off again got in it started it up and its dark out side looked in the mirror tapped the brakes they workex like maybe five six times then stuck on again so i guess i was driving with them stuck on i dont know what is causing this but if anybody knows the fix please tell me.

Check the brake light switch. It on the brake pedal under the dash. Remove the switch and open it up. Your contacts may be sticking or the spring May have broke or came out.

On a lot of cars theres a rubber stopper that turns them off on the brake light switch dont know if yours has it but get under there and in front of the switch there should beba hole where something was holding it. Also on the ground is usually the rubber stopper

Crawled up under the dash and the wite box with the wires that u twisted and turns the brake lights on has a some brake fluid in it gona spray it out good with brake cleaner and dry it good and see if that works and for how long

Hmm... I can't think how brake fluid would have gotten in there... you may have bigger problems... mine just had a little grease on it to keep things from binding up. BTW it's only $20 from autozone

That seems to be working for now...my slave cylinder has a little leak and i think its following the rod through the fire wall it was def brake fluid though. Thanks for the help

Prob have to get a new slave cylinder here shortly
