Yea, there must be a wire crossed or rubbed thru somewhere that is supplying the power in a constant basis. You are sure it is brake lights and not tail lights, correct?
Brake light and tail light are out of the same bulb, the bottom red portion of my tail lights wont shut off. All 3, even one above rear hatch are on.

Ok, the third brake light on tells it all. I know the brake and tail light are the same bulb but one filament lights brighter than the other and I asked to be sure.

So am hoping with replacing the turn signal lever/multifunction switch, it fixes this...semi doubtful, and am more so leaning towards a bad ground but don't understand wiring diagrams.

The brake lights do work thru the turn signal switch so that they work at same time as turn signals. Rare but does happen.

Got new hazard relay, and multifunction switch. Lights are still on. Would a bad bulb cause them to stay on....what if they are the running lights not turning off? Front lights aren't on, jus back 3 running/brake lights...

I wish i had a wiring diagram for you thats what you need-stop firing the parts cannon till you get one.A bad bulb would not cause the lights to stay on escpecially since you said they stay on with the brake light switch unpluged. So are you saying the parking lights are also on in the rear or just the brake light or your just not sure. With both brake light bulbs out the 3rd brake light is still on.

I'm pretty certain they are the running lights. But all 3 lights are lit up, both sides and the top. Have pulled and checked all fuses and relays, even bought a new hazard relay. I'm down to thinking it's a bad connection, grounding out in one of the connectors. Jus gotta start testing em

Running lights is a whole different problem then if the brake lights are all on.Unplug the headlight switch and see what happens. The 3rd brake light should have nothing to do with the running lights.

I don’t remember running lights on top at the back.

I suspect yours work the same as my '04's do:

Top amber cavity is turn signal & 4way flashers
Middle is backup light.
Bottom is combo running and brake light. Brake light is independent of the turn signals.
