Howdy All,

My Yukon XL has been having an uneven braking issue with the brakes. The front pads are wearing unevenly on driver side.

To clarify, the pads wear evenly but the braking surface does not. The driver side rotor has a smaller braking surface than the passenger side, and yes, it does pull to the passenger side when braking.

I have posted some pictures to show what I mean.

I find it strange that the passenger side does not do this. I am mainly curious as to what causes this and what can be done to prevent this issue from returning?

For those who are curious, I do not remember exactly which company made these brake pads, but I think that these brake pads are Duralast Gold brake pads from AutoZone.

Thanks,
Lord Snax

Could be mismatched pads (manufacturer screwed up when putting the pads in the box). That is very odd since there isnt an inboard and outboard pad. They are both the same on GM 1/2 tons. Your pulling to the right could be brake pad related but most likely tire or suspension related. Stereotypical culprits of your symptom are worn idler and/or Pitman arm. Worn out tie rods or worse case the control arm bushings are junk too. Play in your steering gearbox (This can be adjusted out typically) Check that idler arm first! How many miles are you rocking?

Look at all that greasy stuff on the drivers side. Is that getting on the brake surface? Need to remove tires/wheels, check the caliper mounts, check for rotor or pad problems and hardware problems. Just for giggles you could swap the pads from side to side and see what happens.
