Well, I got tired of thinking about fixing it, so I finally did it!
Ok, I'm not good at writing "how-to" threads but I'll try.
Tools: Have a ratchet, adjustable wrench, long open ended wrenches, short open ended wrenches handy. The size is 3/4
Brake pedal removal, yes you need to remove the entire pedal for this.
1- Remove the retaining clip from the middle of the neck of the pedal. This holds a wiring harness and the rod that goes thru the firewall to the brake system. Don't lose this clip.
2- Slide on underneath and locate the nut holding the pedal in.
3- Reach up to find where the bolt begins. You really have to reach up in there.
4- Now that you have an idea where the head of the bolt is, slide a long 3/4 open ended wrench up there. Make sure the offset of the head it is pointing toward you and not toward the firewall, otherwise you might not grab onto the bolt. Hold the wrench from the bottom with your left hand and use your right hand to feel around for the head of the bolt and manipulate the wrench onto it...If you can't get onto the head of the bolt bc it needs to be turned a bit, don't worry.
5- Now that you have the wrench in position, apply pressure toward the bolt using your left hand, use your right hand to grab the nut with a wrench. When you turn it a little bit, the long wrench will grab onto the head of the bolt if you apply pressure correctly.
6- Have fun breaking your knuckles. Mine seemed to have a "thread locker" on it and it was very hard to break the nut. There is barely any room to maneuver, so I started with an adjustable wrench until I got down toward the end of the bolt, and then a shallow socket did the trick. It took forever to remove this bolt.
7- Once the nut is off, slide the bolt out and carefully remove the rod from the neck of the brake pedal (mentioned in step 1)
8-Remove the old worn bushing (I broke mine out with a screwdriver and pliers).
9-Insert new bushing by squeezing it and sliding it through until it clicks in.
10- Reassemble.
Notes: I cleaned the bolt and nut w WD 40 and putting it back on was a breeze. I used Blue Thread locker, but might take it off and use Red thread locker bc this is a brake pedal we are talking about here.
