I am at my whits end with this tahoe. I have a 1999 OBS two wheel drive. I recently swapped the rear brakes to disc hoping the braking would improve. It did not. It was marginal at best. Several weeks after the swap, I was driving down the highway, tapped the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. I got to my destination and the master cylinder was full. On my way home, the brake light came on. I replaced the master cylinder, bled the system and the pedal continues to go to the floor. One thing I did notice, that even with the pedal to the floor, I was able to spin the rear axle. It appears i am getting no pressure to the rear brakes or very little. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have had brake issues since the day I bought this thing. I am ready to unload it. Thanks

did you make sure to make any plumbing or proportioning valve change as recommend by the kit manufacture. were your lines clean enough to let fluid flow freely? if it dropped all the way very easy then you need to stop driving it until it is fully resolved.

Try GMT400 forum as well for assistance. Our years of trucks always had brake issues. I have lifetime warranty on pads, and, calipers.

Yes, I did. I had to shorten both lines which was done with little problem. The issue just came up. I have been driving this for several weeks since the swap. The prop valve is within the ABS unit if I'm not mistaken. I have looked for an external one with no success. I am not driving it because it's just unsafe. I have considered bypassing the entire ABS unit and installing a prop valve. In all my years I have NEVER experienced the brake issues I have with this vehicle. Thanks as always for the input. I'm always open to another set if eyes.

the valve is installed on a block that is installed on the abs module. so since you know where it is now install the one that came in the kit.

There was no prop valve in the kit. If I'm not mistaken, the factory prop valve is inside the ABS unit itself. I'll check again. I'm looking hard at a Hydro boost set up as a last resort.

The hydro wont fix this issue... U need 2 adjust that prop valve 2 balance the braking bias... Rear disc require different pressure then drums... Then swap 2 hydro and ull fly through the windshield every time...

Do u have a link 2 this kit..? Or was it homebrewed..? Parts used..?

What master did you put in there?? You need one that is made for rear discs, it takes a lot more fluid to push the piston in the caliper then it does to move those two little pistons in the brake cylinder.

Get the prop valve. You should be fine with the mc u got. When we swap to disk on hondas we just get the prop valve and disks and whatnot. Its pretty easy to swap. Prop valve has to be for the kit you got. Not sure about tahoes but others that are all disk run a 40 40 prop valve
