Pioneer has plenty of DD headunits for 300-500 new on ebay. Browse around there and check out the different models with whatever features you like. I'd buy that first then see what you have left in your budget.

Just got an AVIC 930bt and I love it, had a kenwood and took it back after i played with a pioneer. The pioneer does eveything i wanted out of a DD youtube, movies pandora, and bluetooth audio from the phone. Just make sure someone who knows what they are doing hooks up your vidoe bypass it's tricky. It's worth the extra money to go ahead and get the best head unit possible otherwise you'll just want to switch it out later. Just my experience...

@jweezy it's under there your going to have to remove more than just the cup holders to get at it though.

I might have to up my budget then or try to find a decent used one then. I am really just looking for ideas for now, I am still a little ways off from actually popping on a system.

I would love to hear some feedback including quality, brands, pricing, etc...Don't really want this thread to turn into a HZ war..

Take the budget out of the picture for now. Which amp, subs, DD are the best bang for there buck? I would love to hear about your personal system or any other systems that anybody has used or seen.

I'm on my 4th screen first went with Alpine, then a pioneer flip out, and the last two were pioneer DD nav screens. Pioneer has a great User interface but for NAV it sucks... the flagship Kenwood has built in Garmin navigation maps so if you are going for nav get kenwood, if just a DD, get a pioneer.

In my nbs, I had a Rockford fosgate (old school punch power 800) amp
and three Kicker L7 12's and a 400 watt/4 channel alpine amp for the highs/door speakers. I had Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 components in the front and the Polk 6.5" 3-way polk coaxes for filler speakers in the back.

Now, I am still currently using my factory bose speakers with a JL 250/1 and a single Kicker solo baric L7 10" square sub in a sealed down firing enclosure custom built to go in between my captains chairs.

I just got a JL 300/4 for my future door speakers which will be a set of Focal components in the front and Focal coaxials for the rear (all 6.5"... nbs is same size also). After hearing a set of Focal speakers, I find the extra money the Focals cost are well worth every penny (which i'm still saving up for), so if you have the cash for some of those, check em out. Just my 2 cents. GL with your decision :Handshake:

If you don't want to read above here's my top PERSONAL opinions/choices:
Top Amp choice: JL Audio
Top Speaker choice: Infinity or Alpine (best bang for your buck) Focal (expensive but amazing)
Top Sub choice: Kicker L7 (best bang for your buck) or JL W7 (best sub but really expensive)

my Kenwood DNX 6140 is pretty great, but it cost almost all of your previously stated budget :p

I have an mtx thunder 4500 10" sub that replaces the stock sub, and it hits pretty good for just one ten.

I also have rockford 3 ways in all my doors, they sound reallllyyyy good!
