building a new sub box - couple of questions

i've got two jl 12w3v2's in a sealed box behind the third row faced towards the rear, and they are powered by a fosgate 360a2. i've always wanted to build a new box that was ported since i like the way they sound better than a sealed box.

i wanted to keep my third row, but current circumstances would allow for me to remove one of the third row seats.

what is the best direction to face the subs and port?
i've been out of the loop for a long time, so if i wanted to upgrade my subs and amp, what brands should i look at?

I say sub facing up and port facing back.

As for your sub and amp look Fi, sound qubed, and crescendo. Depends on what your willing to spend.

I've got an Fi BL 15 fully optioned at 2 ohms with a sound qubed 2200 powering it in a 6 cubic foot box tuned at 32hz. It sounds clean with all music but gets down right loud if you want.
