I have a neighbor who builds 4L60e transmissions for race cars. He has no problem channeling 600 or more hp through one. Additionally a man I met in WV does all the transmission work for every dealership in the area and some outside it. He said the 60 is stout enough for even many trucks. I wouldn't worry about the transmission.
The 80 changes some dimensions and adds unneeded complexity to the task without any gains for you.
Personally I'd be trying to figure out how to fit a 6L box in there.
The only dimensions that change are the yoke. It's the same bell housing bolt pattern as the 60e with some adjustments needed for the converter/flex plate depending on how its setup. all you have to do is look at a build sheet for a built 80e vs a 60e and you will notice not much changes with the 80e other than a few hard parts and changing the hydraulics..
If I do it, the AWD would go and I'd convert to 2WD. The last time I looked on PT.net there wasn't enough interest to persuade the guy with the rights to make another batch. It wasn't even close. He needed like 20 people and there was about 6 after 6 months of waiting.
that's crazy since the part didnt seem to be that expensive. Well if you do let me know.
