Bypassing front dvd to play in drive?

What is the easiest way to allow the front screen dvd to remaining playing while driving. I no you shouldn't watch and drive that is not the reason. I want to be able to see what my son is watching and be able to skip and reverse the dvd and see what is going on. What are my options?
