So, I have seen many a thread discussing the mods you guys have done to your trucks. Performance, appearance, function all were high and well executed.

My question is, with the tunes and air filters all claiming better mpg are u guys actually seeing it? 2 mpg here, 2 mpg there, maybe another 1 somewhere. Are the gains that substantial? Are there any gains at all? As I price CAI systems and have scheduled my BBT I was wondering if the claims were true

Servo helps, but if your getting a tune, Justin will increase the line pressure anyway to help firm up shifts.
CAI, I love my AEM Brute Force, but any cheap CAI will help, no need to drop a ton of cash on one that claims 21HP gains...not gonna happen. Any will be better than stock.
Another thing to consider, is what size tires do you have, and what gears? A real help for me, was adding 4.11 gears to the weak 3.42 stock setup. The LS motors like to rev for any power, and I have the small 4.8...it helped my around town.

I wasn't looking to spend a ton on mods. But reading through the threads and reviewing claims of different parts, I was wondering if what was said was true.

I haven't decided on CAI yet, maybe as Christmas present. Or reward if I get this promotion at work *fingers crossed*.
Don't believe that any mods had been done to the truck, so I still have the stock 265/70/16 wheels and gears. I'm looking at the NNBS 20" Yukon/ Danali wheels. Just have to decide if I want chrome or the brushed metal look.

only things i would do is CAI, exhaust and bb tune. having done most of the other crap upgrades over the years, none make a difference with out spending a ton of cash. keep your truck maintained and it will be fine. its never gonna be a corvette with out spending lots of cash but it get up and go. especially with bb tune

if he goes to bigger rims and tires, gears ( depending on what he has already) may help alot.

Well I was going by him stating he didn't want to spend a ton of cash. Gears, if installed at shop, will run at least $500. That's a lot for one mod. Albeit a worthy mod.

Yeah, I'm not getting that involved with mods. After the BBT, wheels and (maybe) CAI will be it mod-wise. I'm keeping it simple.

If driving freeway miles and burning through a full tank of gas; I have gained almost a full 120 miles to the tank with the mods you mentioned. The tune is setup to run on 89octane.

I had initially used 87 and when I finally went to the set 89 my mileage showed a tremendous improvement.

Hmmm... Thats not bad, he'll that's pretty good. Sounds like that may give me similar highway miles to my sedan for road trips. Thanks!
