Hello friends,

For months I have been modifying my Tahoe 00, and I have reached the point of calibration of the shift points and the engine rev limiter. For manuals I have read that if I modify change points I must modify the rev limiter, (1-2, 2-3, 3-4, between +/- 100 to +/- 500) attached image.

I wanted to know if anyone knows how to calibrate this part, if there is a standard configuration, or what it will depend on ... ??? As data, Tires 315 / 70r17, I have already changed the ratio of front and rear axles and are calibrated. The idea is that the shift points are normal, as if it were factory but being modified, and do not feel that the revolutions are forced.

What are you using to change these settings? Mine stock was 5600 for 1>2 and 5200 for 2>3 and 3>4 is locked out at wide open throttle. Cant remember what the limiter was maybe 5800? Generally you want a little room between the shift and the rev limiter, so if you increase one, increase the other the same amount. Before headers i went back and lowered the 1>2 to 5200. I thought 5600 was too strung out for a stock engine. Once I installed the headers I went back to 5600 for both.

Hi friend, the programmer is the Hypertech Max Energy, I really do not know how to configure, and I wanted to leave it stable without the RPM being forced. I do not understand what you mean by +/- 100 +/- 200 +/- 300 +/- 400 +/- 500, and what would be the most suitable configuration.

1-2 RPM?
2-3 RPM?
3-4 Rpm?

I would leave the 1>2 and 2>3 at 5200 shift point on a stock engine. Rev limiter can be anything 6k or under as these motors dont mind rpm. The red car in my sig I ran a 7100 rev limiter with just cam valve springs and pushrod upgrades.

Hi, I am attaching an image of my tachometer, in the revolutions I do not have the redline limiter. How much could I limit it by configuring with the hypertech ???, and the variation of the points of changes of how much I am increasing or decreasing it?

example:

1-2 +/- 100 or +/- 200?
2-3 +/- 200 or +/- 300?
3-4 +/- 100 or +/- 200?

I honestly would leave those settings stock on a stock engine

On a 2000 5.3L, we would suggest bumping the 1-2 shift up by no more than 200rpm unless heavily modified. The 2-3 shift can benefit from a 300-400rpm increase. 3-4 shift will not occur at full throttle with OEM tuning and that is fine unless you're making considerably more power and have modified the transmission to accommodate that.

Your rev limiter is 6000rpm from the factory and should not *need* to be modified with the settings described.

Okay friend, but it would help me in something configure the shift points to move a little faster my Tahoe with biggest tires of 315/70r17 ?

I understand. Then in the Rev Limiter settings I don't do nothing?. And reference to shift points 1-2 +200 or -200?, 2-3 +300 or -300?, 3-4 in 0?. If my vehicle has big tires (315/70r17) would have to use - or + in the shift points, knowing that it will be heavier to move my Tahoe?.

Those types of shift points are independent of tire size and are based purely on engine RPM. You would need to use the "+" option.

I understand. This setting works with the shifter in direct (D), or is to work through the changes (1-2, 2-3; 3-D), and vice versa (D-3, 3-2, 2-1)?
