So, I bit the bullet and ordered the dual exhaust for the 5.3L engine (link below) for my 21 RST. I confirmed with Chevy that it would bolt up to my truck. Chevy confirmed that it would. I changed the rear valence and paid for installation.

Chevy called me and said it cannot be installed. Now I have to pay for a new valence and installation.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Did they say why it cannot or is the wrong system? Personally for that price i would just return everything and simply change out the muffler. Take it back if you want the dual set up keep the valence only and for under $500 you should be able to find a good muffler only and could be installed by a muffler shop. Corsa is another cat back id consider over the GM exhaust.

On my RST I chose not to go dual so kept tips on one side.

Thanks for the reply. They said it didnt have the right flanges to be mounted properly.

That looks nice. Which exhaust is that?

You need the y pipe with catalytic converters for a 6.2 for it to work. Or find a reputable performance shop or muffler shop to modify and weld on the correct size flange to adapt to the 5.3 y pipe

Wow! That is an insane price. I got my Gibson Extreme cat back dual exhaust system for about $1000 installed.

As suggested above, find a local muffler or speed shop, and have them build you the exhaust system that you want.

This is the borla S Type.

I got the muffler on but they also have the full catback system not sure if it a direct fit but should be able to be modified by a shop.

Drone is minimal but it is subjective. At hwy speeds you can hold a conversation without the annoying drone.

That was one of the first mods I had for my 22 Z71. Dealer screwed me on the install but I ordered it, picked up and had another dealer install it inb about the=red hours. Ordered off GM accessories website…..original dealer said they wouldn’t need three-five days..I said no three hours….They said…their ”Exhaust Specialist” was part time. I said the specialist program works only when you have full time specialists for that system. I asked about loaner? They said no…I said refund my installation fee and I will take it to another dealer. Found another local dealer that has specialists that all they do is GM accessories installation. Set up appointment window and came in about 15 minutes UNDER the three hour window. Currently have the 6.2 Premier and even with 5.3 Premier still has the quad exhaust….To be honest…the Z71 should have at minimum the duel exhaust but I wasn’t at the design team meeting. For those without the 6.2 or Premier…the performance exhaust is a good alternative….easy to install sounds throaty and looks neat and clean for installation.

Would you mind sharing which dealership you used for the installation? I'm still getting nowhere with any local dealer.

Thanks !
