Home of the lifted trucks n dirty *****.
New to site. Have a question about my 98 hoe, 8 inch lift. Shes been threw 9 fuel pumps in the last year and a half as well as 3 batteries. Taken it to multiple shops and dealerships and no one can figure out the problem. She will die in the middle of driving or at intersections and wont start back up some of the time. One mechanic said it could be an electrical problem, checked it out, ran it for 30 minutes, did every test he could, said he couldnt find anything wrong with it, drove it off the lot and it dies. I cant keep pouring money into it like this and not having anything fixed. Can anyone help???

Oh and whats a good battery for it?

Here's my suggestions-

Fuel Pump-

1. Check all lines, filters, ECT..For clogging and dirt. May be backing the fuel pump up and blowing it out.

2. Make sure you check all fuses when the pump goes out.

Battery-

1. There is a short some where. Maybe a bad ALT?
2. Shorting or cut wire somewhere?

Maybe someone can jump in and have a better prognosis then I do...

i say its obvious it is electrical, sounds like s short somewhere i would look around where lift has been installed for a frayed wire, do you hear the pump run after you shut the truck off, check ground connections, i am sure more experienced members will have more valuable info than i good luck and let us know the outcome

I would check out the alternator thoroughly. Look for over voltage and also make sure there is no AC present.
