I wondering if I could take a radio out of a newer GM model and put it in my 1999 Tahoe. How hard would it be? or is it even possible?

It is not likely. I think the size alone will preclude you from doing it with out modifying your dash alot. Then there is the rewiring with not all functions usable part.

new ones are double din and ours are din n ahalf..wont work unless you do pretty good mods to make it fit...

Won't fit. I verified this on my '99 last night. The newer ones are a bit taller.
