Sadly, it all depends on the area you live in. We have seen the top tier gas stations have bottom of the barrel quality.

Unforunately, this is 100% true. My cousin drives a gas tanker in southern cali and he gives me all the firsthand info.

You need to give a 93 octane tune a try!! I'm running that on my '02 denali 6.0 and love it, painful to say "fill it up with premium please" when I go to the gas station, but I think it's worth it!! My truck runs awesome!

Folks who go with the traditional tunes, wind up missing out on a full custom tune- which would include the gas analysis, and monitoring of some mechanical problems. For all you know, you could have a faulty MAF or an intake leak that is causing this issue. The cable tune will give us the proper data to analyze this.

i can definately say the MAF isnt the issue. i work for a very large aftermarket replacement parts manufacturer. we are developing a full line of OE replacement MAFs right now. i tried on two MAFS from 2 different factories to test them (not my truck but to test the actual MAFs). put 1500-2k miles on the first one. ran just like stock. i just put the second one in this morning. we will see how it does.

wouldnt the truck be running a little rough with an intake leak?

3 questions about the cable tune:
how much would it cost me to upgrade to that?
how much of a difference would i see from the traditional tune to it? i know from stock to cable would be much bigger difference than your traditional tune to cable.
how close would you say a cable tune is to an in person tune? i would love an in person tune but you guys are always so far away from me.

my name is Jason Salum if you need to look up what my tune is for any reason.

i know some guys say they replace their TPS cause they cant think of anything else and it feels like a whole new truck. have you experienced this before?

I can tell you, even though we do sell aftermarket MAFs, we hate them and usually have to tune them out. They may "run like stock" you should see what the tune files look like! With an intake leak, your vehicle may not run rough. Did you ever perform a crank relearn?

Shoot an email to [email protected] and I will have Justin check into your current tune and discuss the cable tune with you.

Sorry if this does not belong in here and/or qualifies as a threadjack ... @ mods- please move or delete if it doesn't belong/fit here;

Hey Jenna,

Could you please explain a bit more on the depends upon which area you get the gas from concept?

I'm thinking of upgrading to the 93 tune and live in the Greater Sacramento area. Is the gas quality per refinery / distribution area, per state & county, or per some other known and measurable metric?

I frequently purchase gas in the three different Sacramento counties, as well as the Bay Area counties. If BlackBearPerformance has some intel regarding our abilities to capitalize on the advantages of a 93 tune, or lack thereof, will you please share?

Thanks to both you and Justin for your knowledge and efforts in keeping your customers happy and enjoying the "bit of go" we have in these trucks!
