Can I run a small screw into my plastic steering column shroud?

I want to mount a small electronic device to the underside of my steering wheel column. I just do not know what sort of wires are under there, don't want to f anything up.

FWIW I would be using 1/4 long screws, so very short probably would barely break through the otherside, but if there is a mess of wires there i dont want to even attempt it.

I don't see you really messing anything up , If you did have to run a screw through it I would go VERY slow and use the least amount of pressure

Okay ill give it a go, worst case I have to play match the color with wires, lol. Double sided tape ( all 3 types I own ) wont stick for some reason, even tried cleaning the area off.
