Can I swap my 2nd row seats around? Can’t seem to find the answer anywhere and they’re too heavy to simply attempt it!

2nd row seats are 60/40 split with the 60 behind the driver’s side and the 40 behind the passenger. I’m hoping to swap sides, eg the 40 (with my kid’s carseat) behind the driver and the 60 on passenger side so I can fold it down and haul our kayak. Possible or not at all?

If it makes a difference, I have 3rd row seats too but they’re not installed unless needed. And yes, I’m far too short/small to get the kayak up on the roof racks haha. Thanks!

Edit to add: she’s a 2012 Tahoe!

It’s a No go for changing the 60/40 seat from left to right sides. The mounts in the floor are specific and the seat tilt / fold levers would face each other keeping them from locating correctly.

Thank you! I figured that might be the case. I’m guessing the 3rd row seats can’t be placed in the second row?

Nope, that’d be too easy. You can yank the 3rd row seats out though.

You do have the option of buying and bolting in 2nd row captains chairs from another Tahoe, Yuke, Esky or Burb as well as leaving one of them uninstalled.

I have taken the big seat out a couple times for more cargo room. And that seat is heavy too.

Thanks guys! Kayak fits perfectly except when also hauling kiddo so one of them will just have to go on the roof, haha!

Any idea if the seating is similar in newer models?

Oh no. Don’t put kids on roof.

If you ever do pull the bench out it’s easiest to pull it out the back with the 3rd row removed.

I solved the exact same issue for a friend with a kayak (albeit in a different vehicle), so I have to ask: exactly how are you trying to fit the kayak in?

If you've only attempted it the way she had, which is in the upright position, try it with the kayak sitting on its side. This isn't a solution if you're trying to fit kayaks in, but your query implies a single kayak.
