yea?

i thought it was the wife that whined...

I'm always amazed at how many people want factory options after they buy the thing... and how poorly GM lets you add them.

I knew I wanted a tahoe w/sat nav. I read all about adding it later... no freaking way.. so I bought one.. WITH sat nav...

My co-worker just got a 2011 caddy... NO remote start.. GM says he CAN'T do it... can't. no $ issue, nothing. just can't.

a CADDY! without remote start! lol... he hates it...

I'd say buy the vehicle with the options you want, but then part of me thinks GM goes out of it's way to make sure you can't add stuff later, which is really stupid... and makes people like me not want to buy them.

My friend's who work at a tuner shop say Benz is the best to add stuff later... it litterally just bolts on / clips in and WORKS...

My plain jane Grand Prix has remote start! There's something wrong with this world when a 2011 Caddy (on any level) does not have remote start while my base model 2005 GP does :whymewhyme:

As far as GM is concerned it's all about money and some group of high up execs decided it was a bright idea to not allow owners to add OEM features after the vehicle leaves the plant. I guess they didn't think about the money they could make from the folks that buy used and would like to upgrade

It's not just gm. That like that. Other brands like Honda, toyota, Ford. But there is always aftermarket.

Well, it doesn't feel right to me, either. The rope solution did not work. Engine is way to heavy.

OK tell me why it CAN'T be added. When you install the parts and run the wires does the car explode? Does it turn into a Prius? Does it make babies cry?

Trust me, anything can be done. Will the dealer do it for you, well appearantly not. Show me why it can't be done. It is the same chassis guys, there is NO reason factory OEM parts cannot be installed on another vehicle. Does it need a different ECU? OK then plug in a new ECU. Buttons and wires installed? OK 12v and ground run to the rear hatch? Easy. Automobiles aren't as complicated as the repair shops want you to believe. I've built several race cars and wired up things no factory engineer ever anticipated.

Think maybe I get fired up when someone tells me something CAN'T be done? :) lol

Your right. All that stuf can be added. Motors, switches, Control Modules, Different panels what not. Thing is all those parts are not cost effective to justify installing them. Then also there is programming. The BCM could be a different unit that dosent have the Power tailgate thats in it. So then that might need to be changed out, but the bcm is tied into other control modules so those might need reprogramming. The Best route would probably Live with the way it is, Buy a new truck or search aftermarket route.

Exactly why I went ahead and bought one with all the toys. I know I would be griping to myself why I didn't have this or that.
