Ok, I have the ol' 04' Tahoe with a 3/5 drop on it and want to go lower in the rear and am considering bagging it but I don't know the first thing about bags. I just want an inch or two lower to level the truck. I'm sititng 32'' in the front and 34'' in the rear.

I don't know the first thing about airbags, do they replace the coils? Does the ride go to total crap or is it still good? If my assumption about the bags replacing the coils is right could I just do something simple like go bags and run tubing to the back with a schrader valve and fill them manually. I would not be messing with the air unless I was going to be going on a trip and planned to have extra weight in the back.

If someone could break down how airbags work and what a c-notch is and if I need one and what a 4-link is and all that I would really appreciate it. I looked around on GMFS and couldn't really find anything addressing the basics like I am looking for.

I'm not trying to lay frame or anything just get'r down a little more in the ass.

Thnx fellas.:Handshake:

They do replace the coils.

They ride better than springs.

A four link replaces almost everything under the rear and isnt needed unless you want the back even lower than mine sits in my sig.

Running a manual setup with a shrader is a cheap and effective way to get the 2 inches you want if you follow a few easy rules.

1. Do the djm trailing bar kit.
2. Do the djm sway bar relocater or the panhard will hit it.
3. Do the Free Travel mod to eliminate the rear bump stop hanger.
4. Get the lowest profile cups (the part that welds to the stock spring location, and you bolt the bag to.

Will give you almost 10 inches of drop aired out with the rearend on the frame. So dropping it to 7 will give you travel room and a better ride than those stiff ass -5 springs.

Good lookin' out MM. I think all I need is the bags, any suggestion on kind/size ect?

1. Do the djm trailing bar kit.
I got the McGaugy's deluxe kit and it has TA relocators
is DJM any different?

2. Do the djm sway bar relocater or the panhard will hit it.
Done, the McG's kit had this as well. I need to relocate
my driver's side sway bracket for a little better clearance
but I'm clearing the panhard

3. Do the Free Travel mod to eliminate the rear bump stop hanger.
Done, did it last week with a sawzall......

4. Get the lowest profile cups (the part that welds to the stock spring location, and you bolt the bag to.

Word up. It seems like I'm all set. I have McGaugy's drop shocks, do I need different shocks of just bags, cups, tubing, valve?

hi
seeing how you dont know much about bags, i would take it to a few shops tell them what your looking for and let them do the work, theres a lot of liability in doing air bags, some guys can do them thereselves and some are better off writting a check for it to get done. if you never messed with them my recomendation is to let someone else put there but on the line just incase theres a problem. my 2 cents.

No question there. I just want to know ** wit works and what I need so I don't get ass ****** by a shop for not knowing anything. I don't weld so it's not even an option. There is a big difference between going into a shop and saying " Hey man can you bag my truck, do your thing" and being charged $500 in labor to weld up some cups and run a valve and going in and saying " Hey man, I don't weld and I need some cups welded in and line run for some bags".

Sounds like you are all set then... i ran 2500s from firestone when we did this and a shrader kit all from airbagit.com BUT... dont use that company.. the cups are heavy effin duty and WAYYYYYY too tall..

Do some calling.. get 90 degree fittings and the lowest profile cup they will sell you.

Bags cups lines and shrader shouldnt be more than $250 shipped.. and a lil less in labor (i paid $150)

Oh fyi... if you run dominator bags.. (150 a set) they are stiff and actmore like a spring/shock combo.. we have no shocks in the front and just run those and it rides fine... the back im running belltech nitro twos and firestone 2500 or 2600s (forgot)

Can one replace stock coils with air bags and use them for better ride and possibly for some leveling effects when loaded down? is it worth it?
