Can you all school me on wheels?

I would appreciate it.

I am not a wheels/rims guy. Never have been and don't know the first thing. But I love my new Tahoe (LT) and am striving for the perfect look so for the first time ever I'm actually looking at wheels.

It came with 20" wheels and I think they're kind of fug. I am not really interested in upgrading to 22 or 24. That part of the look doesn't bother me, nor does the "gap" between the tire and the wheel well that some refer to on here. Not to mention ride and performance in snow are paramount to me, and a look that I am just realizing I only <barely> care about is not worth the justification to buy new wheels AND tires. I just think the stock wheels themselves are kinda ugly so if it's easy and I can upgrade for < $1k I might be down.

I don't want anything even slightly "blingy". I don't like black. I would prefer something that matches stock options, but from my searching it appears that the only alternative to the stock OEM 20" wheels that I have are the black CK106s. Is that true, or not? I see some 20" LTZ aluminum wheels for the 2014 and lower vehicles.

What other considerations would I need to make if I bought new 20" wheels? Anything I should consider here?

I appreciate any opinions, subtle or harsh.

Thanks for posting that link, those are all stock options? Weird, Chevy's site only shows the black ones I mentions as alternative stock 20" wheels.

Those are factory reproductions, so not exactly stock but they surely at least match which was your request.

Understood. Thanks again. I just don't want anything that doesn't look factory. I like a fancy but not aftermarket look.

I have a few more questions. I have zeroed in on the CK164 style wheels. I really like them. I'm now debating between 20 and 22". I think the 20s look fine and I'm a bit concerned that the 22s are a bit too blingy for me but I have to admit they do look nice. I've shopped them both onto my vehicle and the more I compare the more I am tempted to go for the 22s. My biggest fear is buying the replica CK164s in 20" and then realizing later that I should have went with the 22s.

Can anyone give me the rundown on how the TPMS works? What would I have to deal with if I bought 22" wheels and tires to accompany? Would I take the TPMS off of my existing 20s? Is that easy/doable? Would I need the dealer to do it? Does the dealer need to reprogram something if I upgrade to bigger tires? What do I do with my old tires/wheels? I see some folks use them as snow tires, and I am in a snow state, but just being honest with myself the chances of me changing them out bi-annually are slim and none. I would need 22s that are good snow performers and I would want to get rid of my old tires/wheels.

I would be grateful if anyone could explain this entire process to me so that I can weigh if it's worth it or not.

Thanks in advance.

@WBHMSU...GET THE 22's!!!! On these New Years, 22's is the minimum! Just got 22's on my '15 Yukon and love them. Ride is great with Bridgestone Dueler Alenza's 285/45/22's. TMPS is no big deal. It's the same in any wheel size. You can just swap your factory sensors from your stock wheels into the new ones. I liked the 22's and the Bridgestone's because that is the setup that is run stock on Denali's and Escalades...so you know it's good and safe. Best of Luck!

I would never sacrifice ride for look, but you won't do that with the 22's. Plenty of rubber on them.

Thanks guys, regarding the TPMS (removing and putting it on the new wheels) - is that something I can do myself, or would I ask whoever is mounting the new tires/wheels to do it?

Also, doesn't the dealer need to update the BCM or something to accommodate for the new tire size? Or is there a specific aspect ratio on a new tire that would negate that need?

@WBHMSU...I just had the place that installed my tires switch out the TMPS sensors. They are mounted inside the wheel. Tires have to be dismounted in order to get to the sensor.

About recalibration of the onboard computer for different tire/wheel size...I asked my dealership and they said that 1. My tires size overall is within 1/2" of the overall circumference of the stock setup and 2. Supposedly, they cannot adjust the onboard computer the way they used to. Basically, as long as you stay within a similar overall circumference of the tires, you'll be fine. I personally went with a 285/45/22.
