I have the year right on the middle where they went from the "hold the drivers door unlock button" and it being on my information center. I've tried the old method that worked on my 2005 but it didn't work and the is nothing about programming or adding a key fob in my information center. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I do not have remote start.

Someone may correct me on the year but I believe that 2010 or 2011, GM changed to where you need a Tech 2 or have a locksmith/stealership program fobs. My 2013 required a Tech2 bi-directional tool. There are a number of members across the country who have them and would recommend looking into one if you plan to keep you Tahoe long term.

What exactly does the top accomplish if it's not a ticket science equation? Lol. So is this something an OBD2 could do it an I in the wrong line of thought?

"What exactly does the top accomplish if it's not a ticket science equation? Lol." Not sure exactly what you are asking here but I was hoping someone could definitely say what year that changed. The Tech2 connects via OBD port but has the ability to "talk" to modules when programing is needed.

After 2010 GM removed the ability to add new keys and program the remotes via the dash controls. You might think that sucks but you did get redesigned door mech, double layer glass in the D/P side windows just like the windshield and a steering wheel lock.

There’s a product call AutoSync worth it’s weight in gold that’ll allow you to do the programming from in the truck. All the other features are bomb digidy.

That autosynch device looks pretty cool... I use my Diablosport tuner as my "Monitor" right
now as I'm tuned with HPT....
Getting actual numbers on ECT etc would be awsome and I could take off the
Diablo from my dash

Careful to hide the Diablo if you don’t have a trunk monkey installed. I’m still waking up a night paranoid I left the truck unlocked since my tech2 was swiped.

AutoSync reprograms the fobs. Not sure if the keys can still be programmed by the truck after 2011 though or if the A/S can do the key too.

Pretty sure a new chip key (transponder) can still be programmed as long as you have one that currently works, without anything special like a Tech2 or AutoSync.

OK, got the facts ...

* 2011+ vehicles need specialist tool, autosynch or locksmith to add another remote fob.
* All 07-14 vehicles can add another key that has the (diode transponder) molded into the plastic head. Directions below ..

I've seen Dorman has a kit that includes one or two key fobs and an OBD dongle that plugs into the port and puts it into key fob learn mode, but is only good for like 2 uses or something.
