This morning when I was at a store, my door did not shut, I closed it again and it latched.

When I came out of the store, the driver door outside handle would not open the door. I checked the locks and the remote was unlocking all the other doors, so I had to climb in from the passenger side. Handle on the inside would not open the door either.

I got home, parked and the driver door will not open using either the inside or outside handle. Checked the locks, they seem to work fine.

I have a slim jim, but can't seem to hook onto anything to get it to open.

Any idea's? If I could get it open I could pull the door panel off to see what the issue is.

Anyone have a diagram of the internal working's so I can see what I have to latch into to get it open?

I wonder if that last shove popped the door rod off the handle? You'll somehow have to get the door open to get the panel off. I wonder if it would be worth getting pop-a-lock or a locksmith service out to try it. I guess if he can't grab it, you wouldn't have to pay?

The window molding will come off from the outside just push up on it. You will get a better look at the rods with it off.

Hello BSarteSr,

I understand that you are looking for technical advice on how to resolve this issue yourself. As a customer service representative, I'm not able to provide much in the way of do-it-yourself information, so I'm glad to see forum members are beginning to step in with feedback. If you have any lingering concerns please private message me via private message.

did you try unlocking with the key?

I don't think the locking and unlocking of the door is the problem. It's the opening once it's unlocked

Not to sound like a smart-@$$, but could your seat belt be stuck in the door latch? This, recently, happened to me, all be it was the passenger side door when my wife got out.

Good luck,
EJ

Sorry for the delayed response!

Finally go the door open, it opened after I was on the inside and gave it a few good taps with my shoulder.

Took the door panel off, everything was fine, at that point I felt comfortable enough to close the door (with the door panel off) to test it after I had successfully opened/closed the latch with a screwdriver several times.

Works fine! Not sure what the issue was (or is), but it has been working for the last few days without any issues.

Anyone know of recalls or long term issues with these door latches?

Door works perfectly otherwise (and I am picky, have 5 other show cars and do all my own work, so I am NOT a Novice!).

Thanks for all your suggestions.
