This is so funny. I tried getting an escalade roof rack from a junkyard today and I couldn't get the bolts out in the center of the bars. I cut holes in the headliner and I couldn't get a wrench on the bolts. Stupid GM.

Maybe I missed something, but I don't think the center bolts are accessible from the top on a Denali/escalade.

Uh, if you continue this and pull down the head liner. I would like to see pics if you would... Especially of what the hole look like from underneath...

I did remove my luggage rack... Not good. I broke two of the bolts in the holes. Then not thinking it through, I used a 1/4 inch bit to drill through them. That was with the intent of taping the hole and using a new screw.

The bolts are 8mm, which is less than 1/4"...

Basically, I need all new bolt points. No roof rack for me until then.

BE CAREFUL!

I was thinking of removing my roof racks on purpose. I thought it might look better. I have no intention of carrying anything on the top.

Sometimes the riv-nuts lose their grip on the roof metal and with the bolts maybe a bit stuck too all you do it just spin the whole assembly around. just use a tool to slightly grip the bottom of riv-nut as needed to extract the bolt.
