I think it's about time I put an alarm on my car....

I have never investigated purchasing one before so I'm looking for recommendations.

I really only need it to do a few things for me:
2 way - i want a receiver that lets me know I'm being robbed
Disables the vehicle so it's harder to steal then GM's amazing system

Any recommendations?

I haven't yet wired in my fuel pump switch, but I do pull the starter fuse when parking in "lovely" areas.

I have preference to a very large mean dog and a gun. Best car alarm around. Criminals don't like to be bit or shot. Concept is when you hear the dog barking like crazy, you come out and shoot whoever is stealing , breaking into or damaging the car. Pus the dog makes a really good friend. :rocking:

unknown at this time.
What I have but maybe you might not want all the options. Clifford Avantgaurd 5.1.
With all that I have you get 2 zone proximity, 2-zone shock sensors glass breakage, hood trunk door trigger with option to add a trip wire for stereo stuff, three aux outputs, auto/manual-gas diesel compatible, shortstop running Carjack protection, auto disables, plain view coded sequence for access to system enable/disable and programming, fully programmable by computer as well, light control, multiple sirens, pre-start safety checks.

with key and remote still need a coded number to activate vehicle, auto disable of power systems if engine is shut off. getting jacked on the road?, give them your keys and wait about 30 seconds after they take off, vehicle shut down with full blown alarm. Jacked while parked- Tilt sensor with 1 or 3 degree alarm trigger to save wheels or someone wit a tow truck. Touch the brake or somehow get it in gear without key during remote start-shut down with alarm. Just about everything is adjustable like aux output timers, fixed, latched, key dependent. horn enable-disable-pulsed-latched(add train horns hear) Auto-lock-unlock off/rpm/key based. power control for remote starter for preselected hvac control. Power retention timers(you know you want it). auto start for battery voltage or cab temperature-fine tunable. window venting control(also add one touch down if needed-rear windows too). multiple battery backup- Main battery cut, still has power and will trigger alarm if you want, system controller ripped out main siren still works even if you cut its cable. can total disable vehicle or install dip jumper to get it running temporarily 16-channel remotes. long range receiver. More options with the right imagination- forgot to add push button system that replaces key system. should be able to add alarm pager system as well.......... Need to breath now, want more details or manuals?

There ARE no "bad" areas in NJ! Besides that, I was thinking about the same thing, probably after I get the truck looking pretty... Any which have remote starts?

I have a Viper and love it. Make sure you get some one who knows how to install it though. Mine has a few bugs I need to fix
