Well it looks like I've become victim to the carrier bearing failure at 90,000 miles in spite of having changed axle fluids with good Redline synthetic oil at 40,000 and 75,000 miles.
I have a couple of choices since one of the products my company distributes are remanufactured front diffs for IFS GM trucks. I can drop another stock 3.42 diff in. Or I can have one reman'd with 3.73 gears which of course would mean doing the rear gears too. I need more towing power but don't know if the difference between 3.42 and 3.73 is worth the expense. I'd go to 3.90 but not made for this front diff. And I don't care about non-towing fuel economy, these Denalis get lousy mileage anyway- I only get 13 mpg in my daily commuting.
Anyone do this gear swap in a 6.2?
