Vehicle: 2001 Yukon XL -- California vehicle
Bought this exactly two years ago today. About 600 miles in the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. The enduring code is P0420...cat converter.
Replaced the intake manifold gasket and knock sensors. Overtorqued a sensor and finally got around to replacing today. Also replaced the EGR.
Maybe too much to hope, but a test drive didn't turn the cat converter code on. It usually comes on in about ten minutes.
Is it possible that a bad/tired EGR valve would cause a cat converter code?
