Hey guys I know this isn't the right way to do things so don't flame me. I need to gut my catalytic convertors. I don't have the $$ at the moment to replace them. My cats finally gave out now the exhaust is rattling and driving me nuts. No codes set. The cat material is pretty thick stainless steel. Can I use a dremel to cut a window out of the cat then weld it back? I could cut it off but I don't think my welder will be able to get the top to weld it back in. Or is there anyone near me that would like to help me out?

If you cut off you can just drop the y pipe ad the dowm pip and can weld on ground. Gutted will sound more raspy imo better since I'm gutted lol

Thanks for the advice I didn't think about doing that. I'm kinda scared to deal with the bolts on the exhaust manifold. This truck has the huge 2 3/4 dual exhaust from factory. The exhaust is solid but it seems like every bolt I touch on the bottom of this truck is rusted/seized.

Spray bunch of pb blaster couple days before then spray again 2 or 3 times before you try to remove bolts

I did my exhuast that way on the sol. Cut resonator on mine then welded a straight pipe. Just tacked it on and dropped and welded on ground
