I’ve been running some cheap catch cans from Amazon on my ls powered vehicles and I’ll say the ease of removal matters a good amount as well as something to interrupt the air flow to remove oil/water. My Tahoe was used for VERY short trips to the train station and back for 2 years and got a good amount of water out of it. I now drive it and get maybe 3oz of oil in 5k miles between oil changes.

My high mileage Yukon gets about the same amount.

Ok, why not? What makes it inferior to a purpose built one?
It won't work. You'll be emptying it every week, and it only separates the water, not the oil mist. Go on amazon and get a real one for $20-50 that will work correctly in condensing the oil mist to a liquid.

That looks like the same one I have. You'll want to drill/tap a third hole on the top for an additional mounting screw. The sheet-metal mount is kind of flimsy, and will bend easily without additional support on the top.

Since Nov. 2018, 42k miles ago, this is how mine has been mounted w/2 screws and the bottom is supported slightly by the brake booster hose. DSCN9922.JPG

I'm glad that's holding up for you, and it helps calm my tingling Spider Senses. I was not too hopeful about that circular bracket holding up over time.
